Vermont Inn Kicking Off Free Getaway Contest for Families
“Project Snowman 2010” Encourages Families to Spend Time Together

LYNDONVILLE, Vt. —The Wildflower Inn is offering families across the country a chance to win a free getaway as part of a new contest to celebrate the inn’s 25th anniversary.
The inn, best known for its focus on family vacations, is kicking-off a new promotion this winter encouraging families to get together this winter to build a snowman. To enter the contest, titled “Project Snowman 2010,” families must submit a photo of themselves with their snowman.

"This contest is about bringing families together, which is the heart of our mission," says innkeeper Jim O'Reilly.  "Everyone knows that the secret to a happy family is spending time together and having fun. It's been a crazy couple of years with the economy, and I think we're all ready for some fun."

The grand prize is a free seven-night stay at the inn, located on 500 acres in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. Other Prizes Include a $100 gift certificate to Juniper's Restaurant, 2 ski tickets to Burke Mountain Ski Resort, Family pass to Kingdom Trails and a spa treatment at the Stepping Stone Spa. Photo submissions may be made online and the deadline for entries is March 31, 2010.

Jim O’Reilly and his wife, Mary, opened the Wildflower Inn in 1985. The couple has eight children of their own.

“After 25 years of meeting so many wonderful families who traveled to the inn, we decided we really wanted to give something back,” says Mary O’Reilly.  “The idea of spending time together seems simple, but it’s not always so easy these days.  That's why we're offering an incentive to get people together.  Hopefully, folks will embrace this ‘project’ and make it part of their lives.”

Although this contest is open to anyone anywhere, for those families that vacation at the inn this winter, they will have the opportunity to build their snowman in “Bentley Village,” named after local hero, Snowflake Bentley, who was the first to photograph snowflakes in the early 1900s.  “We’re creating a whole village in a huge field, where there will be plenty of room for rolling snowballs!” notes Jim.  Throughout the winter, families are invited to add their own snowman to the village, and they can enter it into the contest.   Whether you build one at the inn, or in your backyard, everyone gets a chance to win the grand prize.
